Experience That You Can Count On

Hygiene Fire & Rescue is recognized both locally and across the fire service for its experienced team, high-quality training and dependable response.

Their reputation for reliability draws firefighters from across the region – and it’s what neighbors count on when emergencies happen.

The Hygiene Fire Protection District covers 55 square miles of Boulder County, serving nearly 4,500 residents and countless visitors. Our firefighters are truly everyday heroes who answer the call day and night, dedicated to keeping the rest of us safe.

  • Founded in the 1960s as a volunteer station staffed by farmers and neighbors

  • Has grown to a team of more than 50 firefighters today

  • Mix of hourly and volunteer staff

  • Answers hundreds of calls each year, including:

    • Structure and wildland fires

    • Medical emergencies

    • Vehicle accidents and rescues

    • Water incidents

    • Hazardous materials response

  • Team averages 90 seconds from incoming call to outgoing response

As a longtime resident of Hygiene, I’ve seen lots of change. The quiet farm community has become larger and more diverse. Our safety needs have changed, along with that growth. I fully support the Hygiene Fire Protection District’s goals to meet that challenge.
