Building More Capacity to Answer Your Call.

Originally built in the 1960s – with only the engine bay updated since then – Hygiene’s fire station is outdated and inadequate.

It lacks the housing, equipment and training space needed for the team to operate at their best. The result? Overnight crews sleep in a cramped RV in the parking lot. Toxins can’t be properly removed from gear on site. Training space is limited. And while the department has a strong culture, outdated facilities make it harder to retain staff.

That’s why we are raising $6 million to build a modern, spacious and sustainable station that will:

  • Provide private, 24/7, on-site housing to ensure rest and responsiveness

  • Prioritize firefighter health with an advanced decontamination system

  • Improve operations with more staff capacity and functional space

  • Offer a free community room for local residents to meet and connect

  • Be designed with functionality, quality and sustainability in mind

  • Ensure reliable service for the next 50+ years

Fundraising at a Glance:

  • $6 million project cost

  • Funded by:

    • A modest mill levy increase (approx. $395/year for a home valued at $1M, or just over a dollar a day)

    • Community contributions and private donations

    • State and federal grants

    • District reserves

If the mill levy is supported by residents, construction on the new station could begin as soon as March 2026.

Hygiene Fire has supported our Girl Scouts for five years – not only providing a safe environment for our meetings, but also helping us to earn our fire safety and first aid badges. A dedicated community room in the new station would be a game-changer and is a vital investment in our community’s safety, efficiency and connection.
