STEVEN PARKER

Mentor, leader, legacy problem solver

“Anytime we go out, it doesn't matter what the call is, we're solving problems and having a positive impact on somebody's life.”

Steven grew up in Colorado Springs, the son of a firefighter. He remembers the firehouse of his childhood as a place of laughter and light-hearted jokes – but also problem-solving. It was a place where members of the community could bring any challenge, and the team would find a way to work it out. That same spirit guides him today as a Battalion Chief at Hygiene Fire & Rescue. “Every time we roll out, it’s game on. My job is to make sure my crew gets home safer and stronger than when they arrived.”

Steven takes his role and responsibility seriously. “Leadership is about more than calling the shots – it’s about knowing your team, developing their strengths, and supporting their growth. So, they’re ready for anything.” He sees the problems that they solve – ranging from help with smoke alarms, oxygen machines and plumbing to responding to major car accidents and structure fires – as part of his personal mission: showing up for our neighbors.

With a new station, Hygiene could expand its training programs, host more community events, and help his team be even better at their jobs. “This is not just about putting out fires. It’s about being there for people, whatever their need.”
